framed Prints
We can supply and print artwork to the maximum size the file format will allow onto either A4, A3 or A2 archival quality papers. Because we don’t want to distort your image, this might mean the print does not fill the whole sheet of paper. If you need to know the exact size please contact us, as this can be different for each image. We are specialists in fine art photography so we don’t ask our photographers to manipulate their images to fit in a ‘one size fits all’ box. Additionally if you need an image to fit in a specific space we may be able to help by offering your favourite image in a larger, or smaller size, but only as long as the image format makes this possible. We care about how our art looks, so we won’t crop or extend an image if it affects its aesthetics. In fact each photographer at After Art is responsible for his or her own images and we will never ask our master printers to change anything without their approval. It is always at the discretion of the fine art photographer. If you choose a framed artwork, the total size may vary slightly
Our standard sizes are as follows: A4: 21 x 29.7cms | A3: 29.7cms x 42 cms | A2: 42cms x 59.4cms
Papers And Inks
All our fine art prints are made using the Giclee printing process. This method of printing combines 12 pigment inks, so the colours on your print will not fade. As a result of the high number of inks, the colour matching is almost perfect to the original. Fine art prints retain tonality and hue, this means colours won’t change.
The paper we use is of archival (museum) quality and chosen by the photographic artist or our master printers. All the papers we use are acid free, so they will not yellow over time. The chosen paper will enhance the characteristics of your artwork. If you would like to choose the paper yourself please contact us as this is always possible.
Frames And Glass
We can supply art framed in white, light oak or black but please ask at the gallery if you are interested in other frame colours
The glass we use is Low-iron Water White Glass, which has had virtually all of the lead removed. It is made using special iron-free silica. Light absorption can be as low as 0.5% compared to 2% for clear glass, so significantly better. Water white glass has light transmission of -99% and there are no impurities, so no green tinge to tint even the palest colours in your image. Predominantly, this provides you with super clear viewing of your artwork.
Canvas Prints
We use our master printer in the UK for all our Canvas prints and you won’t find better quality anywhere. Canvas prints are ready to hang on your wall and are printed to the same high quality standards as our fine art prints. Our printer will choose either a matt or gloss finish canvas, whichever best suits your chosen artwork. We use Poly-Cotton Canvas which provides superb brightness, detail and supports the widest range of colour.
Acrylic Photo Prints
Our acrylic prints are produced using state-of-the art laser exposure systems and a traditional developing process. We use the Worlds No 1 printer for this format. Prints are produced on brand-name paper and display rich colour reproduction and are guaranteed non-fade for many years. Your artwork is sealed to a sturdy 3mm aluminium dibond which consists of two think platinum-white sheets of aluminium sandwiched a round a black polyethylene core. The three-layered construction gives this light material long-lasting stability and prevents light from shining through, making it ideal for pictures of all sizes. Mounting your artwork under 2mm of glossy acrylic glass enhances its characteristics and adds a clear sense of depth to your picture. All artwork is supplied ready to hang.
HD Metal Photo Prints
The premium print meets the highest requirements and is perfect for colourful images. HD Metal prints are extremely robust, but low in weight even in large formats. Pictures printed on aluminium are robust and water-resistant. They are even suitable to be hung in sheltered outdoor areas, or in your bathroom. The HD metal print is an especially durable premium product. Due to its low weight this type of artwork is especially good for really large prints.
The process - Your artwork is first printed onto transfer paper using Fine Art Inkjet pigments. Using heat and pressure, the transfer is then vaporised into a special coating on the aluminium. This results in the material itself forming a permanent bond, making your artwork extremely robust. This method is c known as Thermal Sublimation. The exceptionally vivid colour is very durable , which is why this type of print is an excellent choice for colourful images with strong contrast.
The 1mm thin aluminium has a special transparent coating on the front and a silvery look from the back. It is a durable substrate for your photo. We offer as standard your print with a glossy look, but we can also provide a brushed aluminium look. Please contact us for a price.
Please note: Despite using the latest techniques, the printing process can result in minor surface imperfection or irregularities resulting from the material itself. Using a state of the art printing technique by the worlds number one printing company the pigments are permanently bonded to the coating of the aluminium which is just 1mm thick.
It is also possible to have your metal photo print framed with a contemporary Art Box frame, please ask at the gallery for further details about the options available
