Hans Jørgen Bendixen

I have been a photographer since the early 1960s.

When I retired from my career in the Danish health care sector in 2015, I began to work seriously on post production of my digital pictures. My aim was to identify the expression in the images that corresponded to what I had seen when taking the photo - instead of letting go with the digital records that my camera had stored.

Through art courses I gained the courage to create digital art. I use my own photos likewise the painter uses paint, the PC’s photo processing application is my paintbrush and the PC screen is my canvas.

Today, my inspiration is often my lifelong interest in music - from house, pop and electronics to chamber music and opera.

Someone has told me that I suffer from synaesthesia – the ability to see music. (Hundreds of years ago synaesthesia was a mental disorder!).

Well I don’t know.

However, in my music-based art, I try to show the emotions, colours, contrasts, lines, and shapes that I see and hear in music.

Additionally I find inspiration in my past in the healthcare sector: I like the opportunity to use my digital art for charity - it's necessary for sure!
